sandwich plates would be likely your best option if you dont have a jack plate. Drilling 8 holes in the transom for the transom mounted brackets might not be the best idea.
I would say sandwich plates as well even though I think Mercury says not to use them. I will also point out that if you are worried about warranty, I think you have to have a jackplate or shallow water anchors approved by ranger on these boats. I have seen it mentioned before on the ranger aluminum facebook group and when you read the fine print of the warranty it mentioned it for my boat I believe. Ranger at one time was only approving sportsman series only as well. I don't know if that is still the case. You may not be worried about it but just thought I would mention it.

I would use the sandwich brackets and if any warranty issues come up just remove the poles and brackets before you take it in.
