    2009 ZX225 with F225

Hey guys first time posting. Been lurking for years. I just bought this boat and I would think it would be propped pretty good. It’s an F225 with a 27 T1. I drop the jack plate all the way down and it gets out of the hole ok. Everything sounds and feels great but I don’t think I’m getting the speed I should with this boat. 62 mph with just me at 5600 rpm. I have yet to check the hot foot cable adjustment. That’s next. I feel like at 5600 that speed is a little low if it were to make 69-70 at 6000. Once I get on plane and trim it up I raise the jack plate till I get a diminishing return and bump it back down. Best I can tell the jack plate only gets me 1 mph. I would think a 25 pitch would over rev it. 26 maybe? I don’t have the cash to buy a bunch of 600 dollar props to find what works best.

Have you measured your prop to pad?

I have not. With a hydraulic jack plate I guess I need to see what setting is a certain distance. 2 1/2”-3”?

I believe the factory would have chosen the 25p prop and not the 27p. Do you have a 12 inch jack plate?

I recommend contacting Mark Croxton at Marks Propeller and get his prop recommendation. I made a switch to his Razor 4XL which is a 4 blade designed for 4 strokes. I cannot speak highly enough about this prop or his service.

Thanks. I will get a hold of him.

I adjusted to 3.5” ptp. Got 65 mph out of it. I think I need a new tach because I doubt that F225 is spinning a 27p at 6000 rpm. That’s what the tach is telling me.

I had one of them as a demo. Zx225 with F225 sport. I ran a 27T1 that Mark worked for me. I turned it 6000-6200 depending on load. 69-71MPH. The F225 sport had 2:1 gear ratio if I remember correctly which is why it would turn the 27.
