Get the ThermoPen and be done with it. Save your self the time and money because I would almost promise that’s what you will end up with. They are fast and accurate. I had one that I ruined because of my own mistake, and tried using other cheaper alternatives with good reviews (including InkPen), did not take me long to realize I needed another ThermoPen. That’s my take…. Good luck.

ThermoPro TP19H is my choice. They last for years, and are super accurate.

If I was to get one it'd be a thermapen, heard nothing but great stuff about them. I actually just use a probe that I can put in the meat when I know it's getting close to my desired temp then close the lid and pull it off when it hits the magic temp, that way I don't have to keep poking holes in the meat and letting juices run out.

Depends on what you want it for. Check out BBQGuys.com. They have everything from the pen type instant read to the blue tooth enabled for pellet grills, eggs, Big Easy, Fire Magic, etc.
