Anyone know exactly where the fuel tank is located in the 1980? Reason I ask is I’m wanting to mount a storage system in the floor of the center rod locker using very short sheet metal screws. From videos and pics it doesn’t appear as though anything other than the stringers are under it.

If I recall correctly, the gas tank of the AVX 1980 is located under the seats in the cockpit area so there should be no issues with installing a storage system in the center rod locker.
I installed the center rod locker storage system from Ampdmarine last spring and it fit the locker area very well and I chose to screw the main "box" into the floor of the center rod locker compartment for more stability while running rough water and after a whole season of fishing and three trips on Chequamegon Bay during windy conditions, the storage system is still working great and there have been no issues with the short stainless screws I used to hold down the storage system itself.

Well good news is no fuel in rod locker. Lol
Didn’t take too long. Had some scrap PVC board from a decking project and made a small frame for the boxes I have. Decided off to the side and turned to maximize rod storage since port side locker is full. Soft plastics and spinnerbaits in starboard front box.

That’s great! I was keeping all of my boxes in the starboard front but that side is my preferred side for extra rods on the deck and was a pain moving rods to get in the boxes. Decided on center for easy of access. Guess I could just not leave extra rods out but I’m too lazy for that. Lol
