Chrome would be a much better browser. Only about 5% of BBC members use Firefox. Safari is the #1 browser used, with Chrome being #2.

Odd I use all the browsers because of working in IT. Edge is what I use 99% of the time anymore.

Currently using Edge because after an update Firefox would not load BBC. Tried a lot of security fixes with no joy. I do believe Edge is faster anyway.

Edge or Chrome. Edge seems to be a little faster for me.

This, me too. It loads but not properly. Format is gone and no pics. Edge works for me. I go back to Firefox once done here, just familiar with Firefox.

Very last privacy setting in Firefox. set it to do not enable https-only mode see if that works.

    HTTPS-Only Mode
HTTPS provides a secure, encrypted connection between Firefox and the websites you visit. Most websites support HTTPS, and if HTTPS-Only Mode is enabled, then Firefox will upgrade all connections to HTTPS.

I use Chrome. It is the largest Browser used in the US by far. My past experiences with Windows products (i.e. Edge) are not good. https://www.statista.com/statistics/...ecember%202013.

It is still a Windows product. I have a Windows machine and a Chromebook. For my limited usage, the Chromebook runs all day, every day. My window's machine is usually "Installing ANOTHER screwed up update" most of the time. Your mileage may vary....but....the numbers say many people truly like Chrome.

A fast internet connection is the most important part of loading webpages fast. I check the speed of mine every couple of weeks.
I have been using Firefox for years and DuckDuckGo for a search engine.
I also have Chrome installed also and Google as a search engine, but use it very little.
Any browser will slow down if the cookies it stores are not cleared on a regular basis.
I do it daily with CCleaner Professional.
A good ad blocker helps keep the pages loading faster to. IMHO

You can turn off Windows automatic update.
I would only recommend it if you have a good anti-virus program installed.

I don't mind the updates. But, somehow, whenever I turn the machine on, it takes Forever to finally fire up. I am spoiled by the auto-updated, non- intrusive Chromebook. Open it, bang, I'm working.

My needs are simple and I'd guess many others are the same.
