    recommendations please

my son and I have started taking a fishing trip every year. He suggested we go to Lake Fork next year. Can someone give me suggestions on best time of year and a guide service, We are in Illinois so we will probably be flying into Dallas. Thanks

A year from now depending on weather and water levels, I would be leaning towards March or April. I used David Vance in April one year. There are many guides on Fork if you look online.

It’s tough to plan for this trip a year in advance. Might be beautiful weather and cooperative fish, and it might be this:

That was March 16, 2014. I’ve been to Fork during springtime probably 6-8 times, and only one trip was a “good” one. Just prior to full moon in March or April is the best chance for a really big bass, but very weather dependent.

Just stumbled on this and it sounds like you do a trip like my Dad and I do every year. We went down to Lake Fork about 10-11 years ago and then went down and fished Falcon Lake 9 years ago and again in April this year. Falcon was a much better experience and our guide was 10X better than the guy we fished with at Fork.

Jay Greishaw at High Stakes Bassin is who I would highly recommend and I've fished with him 3 times now...Falcon lake when its on is an amazing place to fish. My Dad and I both broke our PB's several times again this last trip. Best five were 10.32, 9.87, 9.79, 9.58 and an 8.7....so 45ish pounds for our best 5. We ended up with almost 100 fish over 4 days too

www.HighStakesBassin.com or you can also find his page on Facebook.

Here are my two best fish from the trip...caught them on back to back casts.

Jay Griesahw is a good dude, fished with him several times and fun to be in the boat with. Glad you had a good trip with him, never heard a bad thing about him.
