Flipped Bullet in florida

I was in that tournament Saturday. Had a 3 hr fog delay in the morning everyone was anxious to get to their spots. Both Driver and Passenger are ok, one of them dislocated his shoulder….very lucky dudes.

Did you talk to them? was it driver error or did something fail on the boat? Glad everyone is ok, that could of been really bad.

Looks like a blowout lost pad coming off the wave. Usually motor to high. Need to lower shaft to btm plate ratio. Been there done that.

I did not talk to them and hate to talk about someone’s driving ability but the thought is that he brought the bow down to go into a curve in the river. I am friends with the Bullet that was in front of him on the right in the video. They were coming into a sharp curve in river and there were a lot of wakes from other boats/rollers in that same spot. Brought bow down for the curve hit the rollers with the bow down while going into the turn at high speed….not good. He is a little younger and just recently got the boat, from what I hear he is a good guy, hate that this happened.

Update: I was told that he did in fact hit a crab trap and the rope made him lose control. Man, we have them all up and down the St. John’s river guess i will have to pay better attention. I have been running the river for 45 years and have probably run over hundreds of them, lucky I guess! Scary stuff.

I'm not judging, but I find it hard to believe a 3/8" rope would flip a boat. I've hit plenty of crap trap ropes and buoys over the decades. Never feel a thing. Now, if he zigged to try to dodge the buoy, I can see that happening. One of the craziest things I ever saw was a guy let off the gas and turned the steering wheel to try to dodge something. He punched the gas with the motor turned and shot up in the woods 75 feet in front of me. That may have been what happened here, but it caught and rolled. It did not appear they were going extremely fast for that curve.
