I removed one of my pictures, my hand slipped and it was misleading. Here are a few more. My cavitation plate is about 2" above the bottom of my boat - 2001 Tracker 185 XT - 2002 Mercury 90 HP 2 Stroke - Spitfire X7 - 19 P. Mine is a little different set up because my 2 grp 31 trolling motor batteries are in the front. I actually had to raise my jack plate, don't have a clue as to why yours is that way, I know they are not all the same but thought they would run basically alike. And the actual measuring is done from the bottom of the boat and it level to the prop shaft, if I remember right...Pics are just a reference so you can get the idea of it all...

OK here is my update from today, was on the lake water temp 42degree,wind blowing 15mph sustained, at wot I got 4900 rpm an 50 mph, into the wind on my vessel view, this is with the ptp right at 3 1/2 inches even when I turned with the wind I got 5100 wot at 51 mph, I guess I'm at the top speed I'm going to get out of her,I'm thinking on trying to possibly ship the 4 blade back an trade down to the 13x 19 3 blade rubex?? Yes I have the 4 blade now but alot of guys that have 190's say the 3 is a better prop for speed
They're not wrong. Statistically speaking, a 3 blade will always be faster than a 4 blade prop. It's a physical surface contact thing.
It really depends what you want. If you want to give up some holeshot and potentially some grip in turns from the prop then you go with a 3.
