    Trolling motor bolts

Anyone else having issues with trolling motor bolts breaking off?

2 different trolling motors I've had a bolt sheer the head off.

Contact BCB Parts and get the newer cap screws with full shanks. They are about 30% thicker and have no threads.

Will I need to drill bigger holes? I'm not against that just curious.

Nope, just get a hammer and send it! Sorry CK, I couldn’t help myself.

Just a heads up for anyone else having issues, I called the parts department and asked about the updated bolts, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I finally got my boat back after 10 weeks waiting on Mercury parts for warranty and will, I guess just find new bolts that fit on my own.

Parts Department should know this answer. Mark and Allan both have knowledge. If you got service then they may not know, though they can find out the answer.

I talked to Allan about it, He was talking about the aluminum plates under the cap and then the polymer parts that sit on the cap.

I have never seen or heard of this. Could you post a pic of the broken bolts, if possible. As a side note, if you are referring to the stainless steel screws, they can be gotten at any lowes or home depot. Also you can buy the screw/rubber mounts in a kit also online. Hope it helps.
