Got the finish-rite in today. First dip not did not go well. This bait was painted a week ago. On the plus side it did dry quickly and is crystal clear.

I have dipped 25+ cranks and 100+ jigs, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits..... Not one issue. I wonder why yours is different?

Dipped this cedar/jigskinz glide today in the finishrite. Dry to touch in couple hours. Nice finish.

Yep just one it's pretty thick
I did a bait today mixing the mica powder with finishrite. Also I did thin the finish rite with xylol. Put a coat with porcelain color on the entire bait. Then about 15 minutes later did the head with indigo and the back with pistachio color. Up close you can see a few brush strokes but looks ok at distance. After another 20 minutes did a clear dip.

Do you powder coat your bladed jigs and then dip them in the clear

I don't add paint to blades, I feel the added thickness/weight robs some of the blade action. I do have some blades that I had electro-plated.

I hand paint and or airbrush all lead products and dip or brush my clear coat. Most times they go on the turner.
I have found that some of my plastics do react to this clear... But not enough to make me change. I just watch how I store them.

I recently got to fish a 1.5 square bill I dipped twice in this product. It went on great and dried fast. I thought this might be a alternate to other clear coats. After 10 casts in some rocks the lure did not pass the "fish it" test. Back to KBS for me. I have 2 full mason jars (sealed) of this stuff for sale (1 qt total). $20 shipped.
Well that’s disappointing
Mike, wondering if you are still using this product?

I tried a quart last year and within 10 months baits were showing cracks in the clear and water intrusion thus getting a white to yellowish finish in the clear. Major disaster for about 40 baits! Threw it away! Diamond clear is by far the best!
I know this is a little late but it took me a while to conclude testing.
Testing- I only dip painted crankbaits, I do not thin, only one coat and I hang/drip dry.
KBS: By far the best clear coat I have used. Have never had any issues with application. "My only issue is shelf life."$45 a quart
Toon Brite: I love the way it lays on the bait. It does take at least 2 coats and shelf life is forever. $25 a quart
Finish Rite: I would compare with KBS as a one coat crystal clear application. Shelf life is better than KBS. This does dry the fastest of them all. $52 a Quart
In conclusion I am staying with Toon Brite, then Finish Rite and then KBS. I am putting Finish Rite second because of how fast it dries. I never had any issues with any of the coating with regards to cracking.
