I hope a bunch of people try it and post their results as well.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but have any of you had this happen when dipping KBS and do you know what caused it?

Blanks wiped off with rubbing alcohol and fully dried. Createx paint that dried for 5 days (I was out of town). The "cracking" area appears almost immediately after dipping. Most often, it's under the bill and sometimes on the gill plate area and all the way down the bottom to the tail. I dipped a bunch of jerkbaits previously and they were flawless. This batch of cranks (two different types from different sources), one out of every three or four has this happen. I can't tell if it's the paint underneath or the KBS but the KBS feels rough in those areas after it dries.

I may have to try this Finish-Rite if I can't this figured out.

How old and thick is the KBS? It may need some xylene/xylol added to thin it down. Are you hanging or rotating?

Just got it from Amazon about three or four weeks ago. I did add xylene/xylol to thin after I first experienced some tiny bubbles on bills. My first batch of jerkbaits were perfect (unthinned). Next batch of cranks, I noticed some tiny bubbles on the bills. The second dip on those, I first experienced the "cracking" appearance in places. Then I thinned it and did a new batch of cranks and some, not all, developed the cracking, too.

EDIT: I am hanging the baits after dipping, no turning.

This is a urethane base product and can be thinned with urethane paint reducer.

The finish-rite, I see in post #9 you used a turner. Is that advised or can they hang?

I’m sure they can just hang as well. Just like any other clearcoat. But I do use my turner on most every finish. It just leaves a more consistent finish I think.

    did you get some yet?

No. But I did call the supplier to find out what I could thin with if somebody wanted to.

Last night, I was able to pour a ton of bladed jigs. Clean the lead, paint, glitter, put eyes on, and two coats of this clear on, and tonight I’ve put all the blades and skirts on. I was never able to do this complete process in less than 24 hours. I do use a rotisserie with a space heater blowing on them to accelerate the process.

Not yet but I will this winter on the next round of clearcoating. Other than the drying times being humidity dependant, the durability and dip & hang with KBS is hard to beat

I know what you mean, but I have been using KBS for many years and I’m always looking for something better for my needs. I think I found it, finally!

ive had it happen before. Mcu does not work well with some types of paints and sealers.

So far, No signs of any trouble. And it's crystal clear. I keep it in 16oz mason jars.

When fully cured, do you find it to be as hard and durable as KBS?

It seems to be just as good..... My bladed jigs are holding up great. I have not fished any cranks or topwaters yet.

I'm really hoping others try it and post their opinions.

Just wanted to say thank you for all the testing and feedback you give us. It save us a lot of time and searching. Thank you for responding, to what seems like everyone’s post that can’t find certain solutions to their problems. Thank you!

Thank you for the kind words. I'm an open book and share all of my success and failure's. I wish more baitmakers would open up with their findings for us all to benefit.
