    2.8 keitech head

What has everybody found to be the best head for a 2.8 keitech? Looking for maybe 1/4 with a small enough hook to accomodate the small bait. Dont want to deal with a super light wire hook either. Id also like a weedless option if possible
They aint got hands, set the hook

Never found a weed less option but the dirty jigs guppy head is the best I’ve found for that bait.

I'll second that, get the 1/0 hook version, short shank, leaves plenty of free body on the 2.8 to wiggle. Allows you to fish it really slow (if you want), but yet get plenty of kick on the tail.

I also put a drop or two of Loctite gel on the bait keeper before threading the Keitech on.

I fished the 2.8 in the fall and winter so much I shouldve bought stock in Keitech. I found the best head was the berkley half head jighead. I found them at sportsman warehouse but have seen them on tackel warehouse also.

The little zman 1/5 oz head fits good also but youll need a little dab of glue to help.

I tried a pack of the VMC hybrid swimbait heads end of the season and like them. I have 1/2oz but sure the smaller sizes work well too. Have also seen a lot of guys swear by that Matt Stefan dirty jigs guppy head.

My favorite is the VMC moon eye jig. It’s an aspirin shape head so it wobbles quite a bit due to the flat sides. If I’m not using that, I just throw them on a regular ball head lead jig that I pour. A lot cheaper than the fancy stuff and haven’t seen a difference in catch rates between a painted and unpainted head

The Berkley fusion 1/4 swimbait heads come in 2/0 or 3/0. They are stout compared to most similar size heads.

I usually just throw them on heads designed for Ned rigs. To be fair, I suppose that usually means a lighter wire hook, though not always.

All the swimbait specific or even generic ball head jigs I've found have hooks that I think are too big. I want something like a #1 or maybe 1/0 for that bait. The 2/0 and 3/0 options kill the action. Hell, I honestly think 3/0 is pushing it on the bigger Keitechs, even 3.8s in a lot of cases. Different strokes, of course.

I throw a 2.8 and a spark shad a good bit and the Megabass okashira, VMC mooneyes, keitech super rounds and ballheads I pour myself all seem to work about the same for me. I probably use the moon eye and Megabass the most. The keitech jigs IMO would be the best but the keeper collar sucks. I've tied some thread on the collar and then superglue holds better but that's a PITA.

I have been using the Dirty Jigs Guppy Head. The 1/4 comes with a 1/0 or 3/0 hook.

I use primary the dirty jigs Matt Allen heads and occasionally the guppy head if I need to get smaller/lighter. Great smallmouth setup

I really like the Megabass Okashira screwhead. It's only 1/8 oz but it's got a pretty sturdy hook and I just think the propeller on the head adds some vibration and flash without messing up the action of the swimbait. If you don't want the propeller, the regular Okashira head would work as well.

The Okashira screw head is excellent but I felt it was kinda too big for the small Keitech.

Guppy head. They offer a 3/8oz with 1/0 hook which is rare. 3/16th is my go to though.
