    Humminbird Solix 12 & 15 Gen2 Software Update issue

    Hello BBC,

My buddy has 3 Solix units, 1 Solix 12 " MDI, 1 12" MDI, and a 15" MDI all networked together and all Gen 2. We've been trying to update these units to the newest software version (4.020) and have been unsuccessful. The current software version is 3.6 so we are passed the requirement of version 3.5 in order to update. We have tried multiple SD card's tried re-downloading the update several times. My take is that it needs to still be updated to version 3.8 first before the units will recognize the 4.020 update. Would it be wise to also disconnect the network cables from each unit and update them individually? Or maybe even disconnect everything but power from each unit? This simple task has turned into a month ordeal of trying to figure this out! Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Make sure you save/export all your NAV data and do Restore on NAV data and then I do a Factory Restore Defaults. I make sure the only files on the SD card are those updates from the download along with encrypted file for that unit. I have separate SD cards for each unit and do not mix them up. Make sure you extract files and then copy them from the folder that is extracted to the SD card. I have 3 Solix networked and only turn one on at a time when I do my updates. Mine took about 10 to 20 mins each. When update is done you will see success flash on screen and unit will reboot on its own. When rebooted its complete and shut down and move on to the next. Once updated re sync new network and start setting up settings. Hope this helps.

I know this sounds crazy, lick the SD chip before inserting.
A drone guy told me this and I did it for my solix 10 and it worked
