    Garmin: Design to Fail???!!!

    I’m speechless now!!!

    if anyone has an older unit (Echomap 93sv Plus and so on), could you help check and see if you can see the circuit board via the LAN port?

    I think you need to check one of your wires, there is likely something stuck to it

    3D5C15F2-23C0-4150-B46C-978A2687CAC6.jpegYes you can see the board but as long as the cover is on it or the cable is plugged in correctly that is not where the water gets in. The water comes in around the multi pin connector that the unit mates to.

    I even don’t see such a “bottomless” on the LAN port of all my PCs; but the Garmin chart plotters are supposed to be water-proof.

    The head units themselves pretty much are. The cradles are where the problem arises if they are left in the rain.
