My brother is in Air Force training in Wichita Falls and the plan is to visit him for a weekend before the training is over and he's shipped off. What would be the best lake that time of year within 2 hours?

I'd say Possum Kingdom or Ray Roberts. Anything else is going to be more than 2hrs away.
Kind of what I was thinking. Didn't know which one west of Ft Worth to target if we decided to head back that direction.
Hubbard Creek has some good ones in it IF you have time figure them out. Seen some pictures this year of ones that will make me go there in the March or April.
So Hubbard Creek could be a good one to consider. It is currently approaching 12' low and TXDOT has closed the Mile Long bridge on US180 that crosses it just south of the main lake. So that needs to be considered when coming in from Wichita Falls. To use the main ramp on the west side of the bridge, you'd need to come down US283 to Albany then US180 toward Breckenridge. That ramp is on Sandy Creek and there will be some shallow humps between the bridge and the main lake, so be careful. If you come into Breckenridge via Graham on TX67, you'll have to use the low water ramp at the dam that will put you in the main lake.

Thank you all for the info.
The Hubbard Creek bridge will reopen on Jan 14
I heard they opened the bridge today.
No bass in Hubbard, PK is full of em.
