    625 Prop Question????????

I've been running a 625 for a few years now. My current setup is a 300xs, 1.75 gear case, 12'' hydraulic jp and a 29p Bravo xs. I get right at 80mph loaded with 2 grown people. I've ran a 27p promax which was the suggested prop when I bought it. That hit the rev limit really quick and would wanna blowout getting up on plane. Tried a 29 ot4 and it wasnt much better than the Bravo. I'm happy with the performance of the Bravo but curiosity and winter time has me wondering what a Fury would do. Anyone out there ran this setup with a Fury or Tempest with any luck?

What lower unit do you have, TM or SM? That rig should be mid-high 80s all day.

I've gotta TM. Thought about getting a SM but where I fish its mainly 1-5 ft deep and loaded with grass. I clean the thermostats enough as it is. I'm in SE Virginia/ NC

What kind of RPMs are you turning the 29?

6200 is about as far as I've pushed it. Thats with a full load. What do you think a SM would do with 1.62 gears?

It would certainly be faster on the top end but you'd lose a lot of holeshot especially with a load.

Right now, with your set up, it is showing you are at 18% slip. It should be around 10-12% which would put you in the 86-87mph range. Do you know your propshaft heights as it relates to your jackplate gauge? If so, what is the propshaft height that you run normally? With the TM, you so be in the 1/2 - 3/4in below the pad range.

As for the Fury/Tempest question, you never know until you try. No two boat setups are the same.

Not sure about prop height. I dont have a gauge on the boat. I bring it all the way up and go then drop it down a few seconds on plane and go from there. For reference this boat is the demo boat Keith had in 2016. Its white, black and red. I got it in 2018 from a pro in Florida.
I was curious about the Fury. I see a lot of them on boats. Mainly 3 blades which I dont have much experience with.
With the SM how much pitch do you drop with the 1.62 gearing?

I think you’re hitting the rev limit with the 29 bravo and don’t realize it. I ran a 300xs 1.62 SM for 11 yrs on 2 different 21-10 bullets and a stock 29 bravo1 xs was my favorite prop. I would try a 31 bravo1 xs with your 1.75 TM before I would switch gearcases. You want to prop it to turn 6000.

I'd go out and measure your propshaft height and set it at 1/2in below the pad. Then go run it just like that get a solid baseline for us to go on from there. JP might be on to something as well.

I'll see if I can get out there this weekend if the wind will calm down some.
