    Garmin Force depth limiter

Changed out the stock trolling motor shaft bushing to this Garmin bushing and limiter. The limiter keeps the head from bottoming out and damaging the coiled wires. It also prevents the lower drive motor from going past the mount in the stowed position. Easy to follow instructions $20 plus shipping from a retailer.

Hopefully ice will be off in three weeks to get the Cat out and give it a test.

Never mind I see how it goes on. But did you take the stock one off? If so did you have to take the head off?

No didn’t have to remove head. The installation instructions show how to remove the stock bushing. You split it to remove with a screwdriver. Just follow the instructions a easy job.

Well crap. I took the whole head off thinking I’d have to replace the lower collar. Me no smrt.
So after replacing the collar and reinstalling everything there is some play in the steering. I don’t remember it being there before I took it apart. Is there supposed to be.

I don’t think mine had any play after the install.

Thanks, I will take it apart and redo. I saw on the garmin support page there is a similar but larger slot on the collar so maybe that is the issue. Thanks ColdWater.

They should be giving those out for free. I had mine loosen up once and drop.

Same here…twice. Should have been a factory install.

Took it apart and it was put together correctly. You can feel the slop in the TM drive shaft.
When i put the new depth collar on it wasn’t snug either. Is it supposed to be?
