    USA Smith Lake question

I'm headed down to AL, in the end of April...
    just curious...
what would you guys estimate to be the Peak of the Spawn on a Normal Year?
here in NC i'd say the Full Moon in April is the normal Peak, however the Spawn can start in March and run Through Mid May...

    Thanks in advance

Same here.......higher temps than normal can move it up and lower temps delay. Those fish have a built-in thermometer.

I'm one of those that doesn't think the full moon has a whole lot to do with the spawn.
Water temp of 60 in the morning for 3 or 4 days in a row have much more of an impact than the moon phases.

I was on Smith yesterday......started out at daylight at 50 to 51 degrees. By mid afternoon seeing 55 to 57. Warm days and nights will shoot temp up and you know what a major cold front can do.

With the cold front coming through today and another big one due in this coming weekend, I imagine the water temps will be pretty unstable for at least the next couple of weeks.

Yep and those spots down there tend to start a little earlier than the largemouth do. There's an ABT north event there this coming weekend as well as a big high school event..

Fished Smith yesterday and I would say most of the spots are spawned out. Bite was still very good.

i've done a little research, but still curious...
what sort of weights normally win a Team Tourney down there this time of year?
here during spawn since we have both Spots and LM, winning bags in team events can be as much as 23lbs, but on a off day maybe 18...
