I can look out the window with a cup of coffee in hand at the wind and the snow and not have to drive to work, it's a great feeling

When I start thinking about the things I wish were better in my life, this kind of day, with a good roof above me, a heater in front of me, and a hot cup of coffee at hand, remind me to count my blessings.

To both of the first two posts...Amen! Getting a small taste of it recovering from surgery...kinda nice to appreciate the beauty early in the morning rather than cussing as I put my coat and gloves on 20 minutes earlier than usual to clean off the car before heading out

I was a pe teacher all my life. Over the years, I began to really hate January because we were in the gym all month and the noise level (6-8 grade) is so much higher inside vs out. That’s the month I really love not having to go to work. Also, we are blessed financially and love to spend it on the grandkids, that’s the best part of retirement.

About 12 years ago, before I retired, I had to fly home from a job. Last leg was from O'Hare to Northwest Arkansas. There had been an ice storm the day before and conditions were iffy. After a bunch of delays, we finally took off around 11 PM. Could not land in NWA and got diverted to Tulsa. Got a middle of the night bus ride from Tulsa to NWA. Got to my vehicle in the outdoor parking lot about 3 AM. It was covered in a thick layer of ice, had to break it all off and journey home on icy roads. I think I finally got home about 4 AM.
Memories like that make me glad to be retired and sitting in the house and typing on the PC. However, I will be glad when this stuff melts and I can get back to fishing. February is a month where the big fish come out to play.
