    Fishing and physical fitness

I gotta get back into my fitness routine. Spent the last year fighting through some health issues that got me off track but things are a lot better now. I know I fish bet5er when in shape.

Feel it's important as well. Started doing calisthenics in the am for my back. Stretch, sit ups, push ups, deep knee bends, walk at lunch at work. Helped immensely due to my desk job.

I started working out again. I actually managed to get in pretty decent shape at the beginning of covid, The second year not so much. Started December last year.

I think resistance bands are one of the best things people can grab a set of.

I notice when my core strength is good that I also recover more quickly after a day or two of long hours on the water.

There is a few that are pretty fit and jacked, and work at it..... It does make a difference when you get older. Especially if you are not a pro poll sitter. Keeping the core fit is pretty imporatant.

While you can get away with being out of shape and fishing well, I really believe being in at least decent shape has huge benefits. The first huge benefit is endurance to be out all day in the heat / cold, and the second one is injury prevention. I find the lingering back and tennis elbow issues are quickly solved by gym time.

Yeah, this past 2 years I've been in a slump around taking care of myself. I've already vowed this year I'm going to start running and doing burpees every day. I hate and I mead REALLY hate burpees, but I'll be damned if they don't help with core strength.
Been fishin' since I was 5 years old...Thanks Grandpa!

Been doing push-ups for years. But at 47 I have figured out that’s not enough. Stretching is a must.

A shake weight or the rubber band contraption Crews is pushing might help.

That thing Crews is pushing is one of the dumbest looking fitness devices I’ve ever seen.

I fish standing up always. Not a fan of sitting down or leaning on butt seats. I know I can easily tell the difference after a day of fishing when I am somewhat in shape.

Not a fan of any type seat, even fishing in overcrowded lakes with bad boat wakes.

Yeah ditching a seat was the best thing I ever did. I used to get a sore back and once I started standing all day the back pain went away.

I run 3 miles every other day and mix in a couple light upper body workouts on non running days. Fished six hours yesterday and was beat. I did just have covid a couple weeks ago so maybe my stamina is not back 100%.
