    Free-will?

Definitions are very important with this topic. So, does everyone in the world have the ability to "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ" or are there only a select few? Thoughts on the verses?

Joshua 24:15 If it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.......But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

My interpretation is that Joshua exercised his free will.

    Good point.
Mark 16:16, He who believes and is baptized will be saved;but he who does not believe will be condemned.
    Seems like a choice

On to those that the gospel has been presented, yes.
On to those that the gospel has not been presented salvation is still possible, yes. Romans 2:14-16
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:15 which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
16 in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.

"No one can" is a very strong proposition.
    prop·o·si·tion

    /ˌpräpəˈziSH(ə)n/
    Learn to pronounce

    See definitions in:
    noun

    • 1.
a statement or assertion that expresses a judgment or opinion.
"the proposition that all men are created equal"

Whatever your choice or belief is, you should be compelled to reconcile bible verses that at best seem " a paradox and at worse a contradiction".

My edit: I should point out that the verse I quoted from Jesus is very eschatological. (Will raise him up on the last day)

The particular way you interpret a verse is highly dependent on your particular eschatological view. This is why eschatology matters.

    Jesus also said

    John 1:29

The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Is the world now saved? the verse seems to say....... he took away the "sins of the world"? took away, seems to indicate they are no more?

I could post many more examples..............

Dozer, when you say "saved" are you including believing and repenting or not?

Does this verse show He calls all to himself? john 12:32 32And I,if I am[e]lifted up from the earth, will drawall peoples to Myself.”

I am trying my best not to edit your post . I think I have scrolled down to the end of your post.

Saved, to me is , Redeemed, bought, purchased, ransomed, Sins counted no more, they are cast as far as the east from the west, they are remembered no more, they are no longer counted against us....................blah blah blah blah.

It is also an eschatological term, which you do not agree with me. But most importantly you do not understand at this point.

It is fellowship with God as recorded in the garden, (walked in the cool of the day).

Now you're going to another verse.................. I am ok with that but this how arguments/discussions go down a rabbit hole.

Please re read my previous response and study. Then respond.

    I appreciate your questions.

I must be honest, sitting here after responding to the question to me about "saved". I gave such a simple answer to that question I am embarrassed with my weak response; Gods Word deserves a much more thorough answer.

Saved means so much more than that according to the OT and NT.

Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God. What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, “That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.” But if our unrighteousness serves to show the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unrighteous to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.) ...

John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. “If a man is righteous and does what is just and right— if he does not eat upon the mountains or lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, does not defile his neighbor's wife or approach a woman in her time of menstrual impurity, does not oppress anyone, but restores to the debtor his pledge, commits no robbery, gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with a garment, does not lend at interest or take any profit, withholds his hand from injustice, executes true justice between man and man, walks in my statutes, and keeps my rules by acting faithfully—he is righteous; he shall surely live, declares the Lord God.

"Saved" began in Genesis when God was gracious by giving Adam and Eve fig leaves, to cover their nakedness......... and when God said:

Genesis 3:15, "it shall bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise his heel."

Praise our Lord and our God.

This thread is about "free will" man can decide. isnt it ?

Did Adam and Eve decide?, choose?, repent?, change their ways?, baptized?, spoke in tongues?, performed Catholic stuff?, performed Protestant stuff?, attended church?, was a preacher?, went on missionary trips?

Or was God full of Grace and Mercy and covered them?

I was going to cut and paste the entire Bible, but you beat me to it :)
Genesis 2:16-17 should answer if adam had free will. “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you[f]shall surely die.”

It's about Jesus being crucified (satan bruised Jesus heal), but He'd rise again to crush or bruise satan's head.
You know that huge amounts of information don't do anything, right?

I agree it was about Jesus being crucified, buried and risen to crush or bruise Satan's head (eschatology since Genesis ie, last things)

huge amounts of Bible verse's don't do anything?

What does your response have to do with your title of this thread "free will". ? I thought I addressed free will in post #10 and post #5?

What a great question and a tough one as well. Romans 9 - 11 address this topic and is a great study. I will point to Romans 10: 11-13. Paul cited biblical support for the universal offer of salvation. Salvation is for both Jew and Greek since the same Lord is rich in mercy to all. The promise is for all who call on the name of the Lord. The prophet Joel said, "Everyone who calls on the name of Yahweh will be saved.

I believe God our Savior wants everyone to be saved and our role is to use our voice and spread the word. The question is will they listen.

    mram,

Can we agree on this point? Jesus, the Lamb of God lived about 28 or 35 years long prior to his death?

Those human beings during that period of Jesus's life who lived in China, Mexico, the America's, Hati, Australia, southeast Asia, ect ................. did they have free will? or did God just confine them to Hell (your interpretation, not mine)?

It is a very Jewish book

We read books (the bible) in a very modernistic sense as if it was written to us, or about us.

    I find that very unsatisfactory.

Yes, I am aware of the "Romans" bible verses you are going to quote.

Well said….Through Gods Sovereignty, He knows and chooses who is going to be saved….. and we must choose to “call” on the Lord. While we may see the two sides as contradictory in our feeble minds, it is certainly clear in Gods mind how the two work together. As you appropriately stated, our role, as believers, is to “use our voice and spread the Word” so that all have an opportunity to receive the Grace of God. Praise the Lord for His patience.

    - yes. They have free will to do what was "written on their hearts", as Dig posted above.
