Any other way to get an RMA# for out of warranty repair?

Two different days last week I waited on hold longer than an hour. I’m at 35 minutes and counting today. The site specifically says you have to call if the unit is out of warranty. If phone traffic is that high, why in the world don’t they let you request it via email?

You might try an email to ask for a better way to handle it. https://humminbird-help.johnsonoutdo...s/requests/new
While you are on hold! Email is usually a next day response. Mondays and Fridays are usually bad news days. Bob

Since I sent messages with simple questions via that form 3 different times in December with no response, I don’t hold out much hope. To be honest, I’m regretting my Ultrex purchase. They claim 3-5 business day turnaround for repairs, but they can’t even answer a phone in that timespan and completely ignore my emails.

Did not realize you were talking about Minn Kota. No servicing dealer or ASC within driving distance?

No, talking about a Helix. Same contact forms etc. though.

Actually Minn Kota service locations make it easier if there is one within an hours drive or so. You can just call them and make an appointment. You might even try the fish smart app. Good luck. Bob

Hour and 45 minutes and I gave up. Phone battery is low and have to leave for a basketball game.

Well, to their credit they got back to me pretty fast on the email. Said it might be three days before they get in touch because of the volume and staffing, but I'm perfectly fine with that as an option to being on hold for so long.

Yeah, but this is what their web site says "All returns – in or out of warranty – require a return authorization in order to be accepted at our facility. If your product is in warranty, this request can be made by email, chat or SMS. If your repair is out of warranty or you do not know the status of your warranty, you will need to call us at 1-800-633-1468 to be issued a return authorization."

The absolute best way to talk with a Humminbird Tech Support person these days is to use the FishSmart App. Right on the home screen is the ability to request a call-back. Just enter the information and they will call you. No need to be on hold at all. I've used it 3 times within the last year and, in all 3 cases, I received a call-back in less than 30 minutes.

Once you speak with them, you will get a follow-up email detailing the conversation and actions to be taken by them as well as any actions they need from you. You can then use that email to correspond back & forth or use the FishSmart App to get another call-back.

They maybe even seem to be short staffed to up-date the automated messages?

Well they outdid themselves. They got back with me today and here is how I’m supposed to proceed:

You may pay with a credit card so please call us at 1-800-633-1468 prior shipment to receive a return authorization number and provide payment information. Do not send cash. ”

If I could call them, there would be no problem to start with.

So no cash! So you can't wave a $20 dollar bill to get more attention , like in a strip club.

Sadly I’ve sunk in excess of $3000 with this company in the last month and 3 days and was expecting to replace the rest of my units with their products this year. Makes you have second thoughts.

Bottom line is I’ve spent 3 hours and 57 minutes trying to pay the company $229.45 to fix a unit, and I’m no closer to getting it fixed than when I was sitting at my workbench more than a week ago and decided I was going to have to send it in for repair.

    Finally got it done!

Called this morning, but only had about a half hour until I had to be somewhere. Gave up on that one. Called about 12:45 and the menu options were different. They’ve separated the troubleshooting help calls to their own selection, which makes perfect sense. I got through in just a few minutes, got my RMA and the unit is on its way!
