    Best Rod Sleeves

As most Bass anglers know, MOST rod sleeves are made from the Nylon mesh material and treble hooks in particular are forever getting hung up in them, and rod eyelets are going out through the webbing. I have tried a few different manufacturers sleeves, but they have ALL been made of the webbed material. I just noticed that 6th Sense makes a sleeve from Neoprene and has a strap to hold the sleeve onto the rod. Trying to get some input on who makes a quality rod sleeve, and why you believe they are better than others. Would like one that the very end, is sort of conical, so it goes into the rod holder in my boat, easier.

Been using these. Very well thought out and put together. I’m going to migrate to these. The nylon mesh ones are better than nothing and all but have their downsides.

TW also makes a neoprene sleeve. I bought a dozen of them, they are heavy and bulky and suck for lighter spinning rods. The protection for guides and rod seems good but they are difficult to work with when moving multiple rods around. They will grab a hook and are just as hard to remove as from a mesh sleeve.

Hook will get stuck on neoprene too. I’m guessing they might be harder to get out and cause more damage coming out. I take my baits off before using sleeves (except single hooks). As far as sleeves go, functional is all I need. The nylon ones fit the bill of being cheap, light and functional. BTW, you can get these directly from Aliexpress for under $2 all day long. I’m not sure if you can make them that cheap. I wouldn’t be surprised if the neoprene ones could be found there too.

Can anyone tell me or show me a pic of the end of them. My sleeves are square on some i have, and are hard to get into the rod locker.

I like the neoprene sleeves for casting rods and the nylon mesh for spinning. Academy occasionally runs some sales on the Rod Glove products. I have found them for $5 each at times.

Rod warrior are tapered down to the tips, so no problem with that.

I've got one neo Daiwa that came with a Tatula (rest are mesh). Don't really care for it, it's quite heavy/bulky and I have some concern about catching a guide and snapping my T-rig rod when shucking it off.

6th Sense makes some good ones. I have 4 and really like them.

The only ones I’ve noticed that are any different are a new set of cal coast fishing ones, but for a bad reason. The screenprinting they put on the sock makes an absolute mess in the boat.

Rod gloves for me. I have them in my rod locker tubes and for traveling. The cheap woven ones are rough on guides and let the tip through.

Rod Warrior sleeves are great. So are the 6th Sense. But problem with the 6th Sense sleeves is you never know what length you're going to get. I have 12 total. The shortest is 57" and the longest is 67". I have numerous colors as well. Color has nothing to do with length. No length selection when you order. So you get whatever length they send you.

Mesh ones with neoprene reel covers.

    Black/white for spinning
    Black/blue for casting

$1.70 ea. off fleabay. Reel covers were $2 to $3. I am not paying $15 to $30 for those other ones.

I bounce across Lake Ontario with 20 rods in the locker with rod tubes and butt trees removed. Never have a problem.

Unless you take off the lures, looks like the would get stuck easier in the neoprene and cause more damage getting them unhooked.

Treble hooks won't stick ? Also do you have to order exact lengths?
