    Don't rush it, it will be there before you know it! I did the same job for 54 years. I tried to retire 2 times and kept getting called back and retired again Dec 2018, now my job is fishing.

    I retired from the public sector at 58 1/2. We had a defined benefit plan and I actually reached the point that it was going to cost me money to continue working. Walked out the door 4/30/2018 and haven't missed it (the people, yes, the work, no). Wife retired 11/30/2021. We saved our butts off while we were working and now we have enough money to live our current lifestyle and are debt free.

    Sock as much money away as you can. If you don't have it to spend you can't was our mindset. Work to live, don't live to work.
