    Sitting low

2008 Triton dual axle trailer. Is it normal for tires to sit tight inside fender wells? Fiberglass fenders. Before and after replacing leaf springs and equalizers, still sits tight inside fender wells. Can’t fit finger between fender and tire. Replacement springs are 4 leaf old were 3. No sign of tires rubbing.

Not normal. What size are the tires?

Agree with catfan (but not about rooting for kentucky). Mine sits low, but not that low. I went with 2000 lb springs that were 1” longer when I had my trailer shop replace the oem (after a surgery….let the pros do it for me)…..provided about 1” more clearance…..and makes pulling tires easier.

Really the only likely cause for all 4 wheels being that way is the wrong springs. The tires aren’t more than a half inch bigger than OEM.

Rule of thumb is to have at least 3 fingers of clearance between top of tire and fender.

I called the trailer manufacture (Marine Master) about the springs, she said they don't handle parts for that trailer anymore and referred me to Waymire Distribution and that where I got the 26" 2000 lbs. 4 leaf springs from that apparently are still a problem. I will check out the companies you listed. Thanks guys!

Seriously, check the curvature. I'd put money on it that, that's the issue. The springs you bought are probably 3''. I'd bet you need the 4-1/4''
And no, do not get an eight-leaf spring.

Just removed (new) spring, turned upside down and measured from floor to spring, right at 5 inches....

The length from eye to eye when installed can change that.

I had the same problem with my 2010 Triton(Marine Master) trailer. Replacing the equalizers with 4" replacements solved the issue.
