    Water in LU question

I picked up a new to me boat middle of last summer with a 2014 200 Etec HO. When I winterized it the LU lube was milky. I pressure tested the lower and it held 10lbs for well over a minute. I ran some lube through the top hole until it came out clean and then filled it up with fresh lube and replaced both gaskets which looked a little sketchy.

Since the pressure test seemed good and I replaced the gaskets I'm assuming that the gaskets were the issue. My plan is to run it for a few trips in the spring and drain it to see how it looks.

    Am I missing anything?

I would have a negative pressure test done as well

but could be the previous owner did change it for a while

No issue with running it a few times and check it

Per the manual, the case should hold 16-18 PSI after initial 6-8 PSI. The vacuum should hold 3-5 In Hg. pull prop and thrust washer and check for fishing line. Lube prop shaft with BRP triple guard grease.

Thanks, prop and thrust washer were pulled and no line. I'll retest it in the spring to 16-18 psi and I should be able to check the vacuum with the testing tool I made as well.

If you have a dial indicator, check runout on the prop shaft too.

    Test also at low pressure,
high pressure may help sealing the leak at the shafts, and you won't catch it.

Good call. I kept getting water in mine and changed every seal and it pressure tested good. My prop shaft was slightly bent and was allowing water past the seals.

My yamaha kept getting water in it after a few runs, it turned out the seal on the main shaft just under the water pump was bad.
