    1998 187 elite

Hey everyone, I need some advice on this boat . Dealer has on consignment and said transom was good and motor compression checked out. Is the boat worth the money?https://www.boattrader.com/boat/1998...elite-7996727/

Nice looking boat/trailer. Nice motor but chugs the gas. May want a muffs test at least on motor. Great hull, fun to drive..........$9500 at best

Yes I agree. What kind of speed would I see with the 150 rude?

Not sure about the Rude, but my buddy's 187 was mid to upper 50s with 150 Yamaha, and my other buddy's was the same with a 150 Johnson on a 186

only thing I would on mine is a 175 instead the 150..
Runs 57-59 loaded and 62 light load.
Very Happy with mine after 17 years of owning..

I bought a 2001 187, 3 years ago for 8900.00. It was extremely clean, carpet had been replaced but seats were a little worn. It has a Merc 150. I’ve replaced the seats, put new hummingbirds on it and replaced the fury prop with a tempest. If I can’t find a clean 188 this year I’ll repower it next year and keep it awhile

it runs upper 50s easily with a full tank and tourney load, lighter load and right weather it will hit 62/63. It has the normal champion ride, but nimble enough to get into tight cover.

I bought a 2003 187 a year and a half ago from Eastern Ohio original owner with a 150 Yamaha 2 stroke. My first bass boat and I absolutely love it... Most of my outings are alone or with one other fishing buddy, been on Erie during some bigger water several times with good results, a larger boat would be nice but this is easy to tow and store. The only recommendation is that I have spend significant effort upgrading things that wear out over 20 years such as trailer lights, brakes, motor maintenance, sump cleanup and rewire, etc. I enjoy this kind of thing and have time to do it, would be very bad if I had to pay someone or it I had to use wo this maintenance.
I paid $10k setup very similar to yours.
Good luck and welcome to the Champion family!

If you don’t mind a tippy boat ( when fishing)they are awesome. I loved mine until I got a little older and my back needed a stable platform.
