Zuks can spin a wheel 1-2 pitches HIGHER than the others due to the lower unit gearing. My brother runs a 25M Yamaha in the summer and 27M Yamaha in the winter on his 150 Zuk.

The two guys I know running a Zuk are running a Scorpion prop and have had a lot better performance with them vs. the Zuk stock props. Neither are on a Champ though

    Update!

So after break in and alot of running 5o with my 4B Zukie wheel I decided I needed to get back at least to the 60-61 my old xp150 could do. Talked to Matt a bit and got a used Yamaha 27M. This was not a direct fit and I had to have a machine shop turn down the stainless thrust washer to fit the back of the M prop. This allowed the 27m Barrel to just barely (1mm) recess in the gearcase but not hit the end of the spline. It also left huge vent holes which I was able to plug half of with solid merc plugs. After all that it fit pretty well. I ran it yesterday on a very choppy lake. Holeshot was decent i got up to 50 right away and weirdest thing happened. It lifted up off the chines through 55 and started walking pretty good. My rakker at 61 was did not walk. I can olnly attribute this the prop giving alot mort lift. I had the jackplate all the way down but I dont have a measurement. When I lifted it up 1/4 inch at a time it walked less and got faster up to 57. I thought I was running 6100 but I got up to 6400 with no rev light and I think my tach is high. I had room on the rpm and trim. I think I need to push it up till I get a rev light and note the tach. If its lifted and red lined I'm thinking I need more pitch.

I know even with 175hp that is a Suzuki and this really the quest for 60 loaded in a 184. So I’m in no man’s land. I tried to over rev 27m but I could not and I maxed at 56 no wind full gas wells with 5 50# bags of salt to sim my co and gear. I got my fastest speed with the Jackplate full down. I mounted my motor 1 hole from the top. I’m wondering if it’s to high. I’m in no man’s land at 56. I tried to over rev 27m but I could not and I maxed at 56 no wind full gas wells with 5 50# bags of salt to sim my co and gear. I was showing 6500 on the ano tach with no over rev light but I’m guessing I’m close. It did not lift and CW at this weight. I got my fastest speed with the Jackplate full down anything higher and the speed would drop off at 54. I never lost water pressure. I mounted my motor 1 hole from the top. I’m wondering if it’s to high. Next I will measure my prop to pad with full down. My motor on the atlas 4” Jackplate is mounted - hole from the top so maybe all the way down in 2.5 ish.
