Black Max XR2 150 Reeds Question

    Hi

My motor is an 1986 model, OB122507. I owned this boat & motor for almost 12 years now and have over the years replace the water pump, plugs, rebuild the carbs, replace the fuel lines, poppet valve, preventive maintenance ever year. Would it be a good ideal to replace the Reeds? Would I notice a difference in it's performance?
    1987 Procraft 1780V, 150 Mercury XR2 Blackmax and now a 2021 Ranger Z185, 150 Pro XS.

I had a one owner 1984 2.0 Liter 150hp vertical reed motor on a 1984 18' Dyna Trak 179. I decided to check the reeds when I was rebuilding the carbs in December, 2017 (33 years) and, although none of the reeds were chipped or broken, several of the petals were out of spec in the required sealing gap. I lapped the reed cages & installed a set of Chris Carson fiber reeds and had a lot smoother idle with less smoke at start up, a little better hole shot, and gained better mid-range punch. It didn't really gain any top end speed. The motor would easily turn a 23 Tempest to 6000rpms. It was still running great when I sold the boat last July.
