USA GLoomis NRX 802s versus 803s (not NRX+).

I’m looking at these two rods and need some guidance. The bass I normally catch are around 1-4 lb. Shimano Vanford 2500 filled with 8lb mono. This rod will be a dedicated bottom finesse rod. TRD’s, 2 3/4” tubes, 4” senko’s etc. I believe one is a Med. and the other is a MH. Spec’s on the rod lean towards the 802s though the 803s seam to give a little more wiggle room. If you have or had either one of these rods I would like your review.
    Thank you.

I have had both rods. I would recommend the 852 for those techniques. The 803 would be on the heavy side and the 802 on the light side. The 802 is the better match than the 803 but I often felt underpowered fighting fish. The 803 is my go to dock skipping rod with a 5” senko.

I have the 802, 822, & 842 (had an 852 but traded for the 822). That 802 is my favorite rod in the world. It’s a pleasure to cast…light, balanced (really good Diawa 2500 reel), sensitive. Great for neds & other smaller baits. My .01.5 cents worth.

I have an 852s, 842s and my youngest kid has an 802s. I love them all. I'd look at either of these options over the 803. The 803 (to me) seems more of a larger open gap tube rod, or fishing around heavier cover with heavier line. It's pretty stout for a spinning rod. I never kept them around long. We use these spinning rods for the exact purpose your looking at. We also use them a TON in the winter for walleye fishing (jigs).
