I am confused Shimano Curado and Shimano Scorpion

Can someone tell me are these the same reels or are they different? I think the Scorpion is the Japanese version of a Curado is that correct?

They are and they are not. Parts interchange some upgrades in JDM. Dan

It has been my experience that with both reel models being similar they are very different.

Maybe most of it is in my mind but the JDM version of all the Shimano line just seem better to me than the US models.

Sometimes they are. Many of the current crop of Scorpions have a USDM Curado counterpart. They often have some slight differences with the spool size or type and slightly different braking options. In the past they have also used the Scorpion name with their Metaniums and Antares.
What specific model are you looking at?

Going out on a limb here and guessing Scorpion MGL vs Curado K? The Scorpion is essentially a slightly more refined Curado. Other than the obvious difference in aesthetics and spools, the Scorpion seems to have better spool bearings and a bearing supporting each handle knob vs all bushings in the Curado knobs. I like my Scorpion better for all those reasons. Just saw where Japan Tackle has them 25% off at $184 too. No brainer if you're trying to decide between the two, IMO.

No, Curado K and Curado MGL are two different reels entirely. Dan

    Scorpions are JDM Curados.

    Scorpion 70/Curado 70
The scorpion is red and black and matches the Zodias rods

    Scorpion 150 MGL/Curado 200k
The Scoprion 150 MGL is a red, shallow spool Curado 200k

    Scorpion DC/Curado DC
    JDM Curado DC

Curado 70 MGL. There is no JDM version of this yet. It's a Curado 70i with MM gears and MGL spool. There is the Engetsu based on the Scopion 70. It has MM gears and an aluminum handle side plate. Also gets a shallower but heavier non MGL spool and a clicking drag. It is made to be a rock fish reel but will launch 3/8 oz with 20# braid. I can basically spool mine with weightless fluke and get really deep into the spool with a 4 1/4" Stick O

    Scorpion 150 is Curado 150, not a 200.

It is. The 19 Scorpion 150 MGL spools drops into Curado 200k. They are the same platform. The 21 Curado 150 MGL uses a 32mm spool to be lower profile and is not compatible with the Scorpion 150 MGL.

Also the Curado 150 MGL has frame screws that pass thought the handle side plate with screw heads visible on the handle side plate as opposed to the hidden frame screws of the Curado 200k and Scorpion 150 MGL. It's a different frame from the Scorpion 150 MGL and Curado 200k.

I thought the same thing too but was really confused to see it was a new platform. I don't understand why there isn't and new red and black Scoprion 70 MGL to be sold along side the new red and black Zodias rods. TW could even sell them along side the Curados as red and black Curados like they do with some JDM reels.

That's because it's a Curado 200K with a pretty paint job and a smaller capacity MGL spool.
