    Cobra with a 4 stroke

Who's running a Yamaha or Honda 4 stroke 250 on their boat? I have a 1998 Cobra 201 I am thinking about repowering. It has a 98' Johnson Venmon 225 on it now.

It's not a cobra or Yamaha/Honda, but my brother has Coral with a 250 Suzuki 4 stroke and loves it.

I put a Merc 250 pro xs on mine in April. It replaced a merc 200 efi. Incredible torque!

did you get any weight issues after putting on the 250? I was wondering if the boat would porpoise when getting up to speed or if the backwash got much worse when you come off plane?
    Thanks

Steve, I was looking to put that engine on my boat, how does it do? I figured it would be an upper 70's boat with that setup. I ended up getting the motor, but it was attached to a 2016 Triton 21 TRX Elite. Each boat has their strong points, but I do miss the hole shot of the Cobra. Bet it is fantastic with the 250!

    TX201,
That Triton is a great rig set up, and wide front deck. I was considering a Triton 22 TRX with a 300 Verano low hrs 137, no poles, good TM, needed upgrade in the electronics, but we could not get together on the price.
I have been thinking about repowering, but I am getting low mid 70's with my '03 225 EFI, so makes it tough to pony up a bunch of cash for not much gain.

yeah, I’ve gotten used to the extra width, probably step out of a Cobra right into the lake if I fished out of my old 201. Mid 50’s is like cruise control, still dialing in the boat and my handling ability, 69.7 is the best I have seen so far. That was in August, so pretty sure it should hit 71-73 with the lower air temps.

Mid 50's is my favorite cruise, especially with all the boats around it pays to be cautious, but I would say that those top numbers ain't bad considering the weight of that rig.
