2022 Open Buddy Tournaments - Beltzville

🚨Hawghunters of Allentown Open Buddy Tournament Series is returning for 2022🚨

After a hiatus, we're excited to offer open buddy tournaments to the Lehigh Valley community this year! All tournaments will be held at Beltzville Lake and we've revamped a few things to better reward and incentivize anglers. We're also excited to share that Fish or Die Bait Company, a local company that specializes in high quality soft plastics, has signed on as a sponsor for 2022. We'll be adding more sponsors as the season approaches.

While the official schedule has not been finalized, our first open buddy tournament is tentatively scheduled for March 19, pending lake and weather conditions. We've also secured permits for several fall dates and will announce them later in the year.

    WHAT'S NEW FOR 2022
    - $70 flat entry fee includes lunker (Additional $10 at the ramp)
    - 80% payout up to 20 boats. We will payout 85% at 21 boats or more.
    - Payout top 3 boats for up to 24 boats. We will payout 4 places at 25 boats or more.

Lastly, we'd like to share that we worked closely with Primetime Anglers to ensure that we didn't double up on any weekends at Beltzville. Primetime always runs a great tournament and their schedule should be available soon.

Look for more information, including applications, times, etc., in the near future.

Isn’t “$70 flat entry fee includes lunker (additional $10 at the ramp)” an oxymoron?

I understand your point, but to answer your question, no.

Interested anglers will have the opportunity to pre-register for the tournament. That entry fee will be $70, inclusive of lunker. In years past, anglers would have the opportunity to opt in to lunker ($60 entry + $10 lunker = $70 total). Since 99% of the field would opt in for lunker, we’ve decided to make it a flat fee of $70, inclusive lunker.

There will be an additional charge of $10 (so $80 total) for registering at the launch.

What are the odds that the docks will be put back in before the tournament?

Most will tell you it's a tough lake, but I fished in Primetime's buddy tournament at Beltzville last April where the winning bag was just shy of 19lbs with a four fish limit... they're definitely in there.

In a fall derby a couple of years ago, we weighed in 10lbs, good enough for second place... I think that's more in line with what the average tournament will produce there.

Primetime runs a great tournament, hoping to hop in at least one of them.

Docks should be in next week according to the DCNR. Apparently, they are waiting for their backhoe.
