    Ranger w/ 300 Hp Merc 4 stroke

Anyone have any experience/feedback regarding a 521 (I'm assuming a L only) with a 300 hp Merc four stroke? Thx. Steve

Don't think it will be much better than the 250 considering the 300 don't even make 300 HP.

I thought Mercury motors had tad more Horse power.
I know they have to be more or less.

The 300R is over 300 like it should be. It's the Pro xs 300 that is the underachiever. If my memory is correct the Pros xs 250 makes around 274HP the 300 is like 294.

Just kind of surprised that there are not more guys running them since Ranger increased the hp max limit on the L boats a year after I bought mine :(

Most tournament trails only allow 250 max hp.

I have a 300 pro on my 521. I like having the extra power. It's not as fast as I expected it to be. Tournament loaded I get around 68 mph at 5850. This is my first ranger so I'm assuming they are all slow

Vegaskid, I would have your motor checked (assuming 4 stroke). You should be in the 70's. Most guys are running 67-69 with the 250 4 stroke. Your RPM's seem too low, so not sure if you have the right prop or if you are getting 100% of the throttle.

Is this on a L boat if so probably not far off. The L is the slowest boat ranger has ever built. If on a 521C it would be 3-4 mph faster.
