    Question Triton 179 TRX...

Looking at a Triton 179 TRX. Present owners with recent model years with 4S motors:

    1) I assume it has a pad hull and decent vee/deadrise in the bow?
    2) Any problems getting the hull all the way up on the pad? Bow lift? No pushing water?
    3) Any adverse handling issues like more than minimal chine walk? Porpoising?
    4) Do you run the regular 4.25" 2.07 gear or the CT 4.75" 2.38 gear?
    5) Top speeds?
    6) Max length rod you can store in the rod lockers?

Any other noteworthy items about your boat that a buyer would want to know?

I had one but it had a 115 2s. It would run 45-50 and was a great boat. Has a great ride and handles well. I just wanted something faster.

You can also fit rods over 7’ in the rod boxes.

I have some 7'10" rods... think they will fit? Do the port and starboard rod lockers hold the same length rods? Do both lockers have rod rubs are are they/can they be open to accommodate more/longer rods?

I had a 2016 model kept it 4 years, no issues. Really good boat, no handling problems. It's top speed is gonna be 45-49, you might squeak out a tiny bit more but not much. it's not gonna chine walk or porpoise. Handles rough water good for a lighter hull. It fished well. I had 4 blade trophy on mine, good hole shot and good bow lift. not sure on the rod box my longest rods were 7'.

Thx Chatabass. Yep I think the Trophy Plus in 21p is a good prop for that boat on the standard gearcase. It might also work well with the CT gearcase but you would probably want to use a restricter ring with the Trophy on the CT.

As far as I remember both rod boxes are same size and I believe a 7’10” will fit.

I have a 7'11" rod in my box. Fits with no problems. Running a 3 blade 24P stainless steel prop on mine. 115 HP Mercury Pro XS. I usually top out around 48-49 mph. Fastest I've gotten it was 51 mph. (By myself, light load, live wells empty, half a tank of gas or so.)

Only thing I don't really care for is how far up the seat on the front deck is. I don't sit and fish a whole lot, but every now and then I'd like to use the pedestal seat. Problem is, there's just about no room between where the seat goes and your trolling motor pedal.

That's just me being nit-picky though. Overall it's a great boat!

Thx djh910. You're just up the road from me. Is your boat a 2021 model? I assume you still have it?

I would love to get on the water in a 179 trx. I am in Charlotte. Am considering one and don't want to buy another boat without being in one.

Anybody still looking for a Triton 179trx? I have a loaded 2017 for sale with 140 hours on the motor. Let me know if interested. I have it up on FB marketplace but can send pictures. Just looking to upgrade to a 20 footer. Thanks!
