    Repowering with Mercury 4 stroke 150 pro xs looking for prop advice

    1990 482v Ranger

    having a 6in action series hydraulic installed along with motor

    thinking a 23 tempest plus

    I generally ride with light tackle and 20 gallons of fuel and I weigh 170

    Along with a slight increase in top end, I would also like to use a prop that gets the nose up in the air.

    Boat currently has a Johnson GT 150, Shooter 24p 4 blade. 58/59 mph wot.

    Thoughts/suggestions?

    Had a 482vs. I ran a trophy back then. Now I’m playing with a revolution 4 on my 518. Lift is great but it bites hard coming out the hole. Runs stiff on bottom. 23 rev4 turns a little more than my 25 tempest. From what I read a tempest worked well more lip is nice.

    Absolutely Tempest 23P w/ added cup safe bet for sure, 23P Trophy, 23 Fury4, 23.5P Bravo 1FS. Ran 4 blades on those old rangers they will thank you.
