Fod walk down wasn't bad. I hated having to do hanger bay sweep down.

Still do it where I work but never good enough. Sick of blending blades and changing tires due to cuts and FOD stuck in them.

Not shown in the picture somewhere is an escort vessel and most likely it will be a destroyer. I was there and never had to do one as we were rocking and rolling even in those small waves pictured. Sea legs never happened on those big boys.

I was in the Marine Corps and stationed on the USS America, as the Admin Chief of the Marine Detachment.

The Marines were not required to do the walk down, but some of us sometimes did, just to have something different to do, and to get on the flight deck for some fresh air.

Still doing it with the Navy at Jacksonville (Many Many P-8's and a dwindling number of the Good Ole P-3).

Don’t believe that for a minute. You tin can boys got beat around a bunch for sure, can’t deny that.

I was on an LHA that was 1,100’ long and the deck was 120’ off the water, that beast would roll. We took a 38 degree roll to starboard one night in February up in the North Sea. Granted, if it was 15 footers or less and you been in them a few times it was no big deal. When the seas get serious even the big girls get tossed.

And to the OP yeah I remember the FOD walk downs at day break, good times.

I used to paint lines on runways and taxiways once in Atlanta had a part fall from sky and reported it and of course no airline claimed it , hahahaha

Worked on UNREP winch systems at work. Some of our techs were on a carrier, I think Saratoga, while some were on a DDG, doing equipment checkout. Pictures and video came back. Guys on the carrier were enjoying a beautiful day on the water, while the guys on the DDG were wearing foul weather gear and safety harnesses. Different worlds!

I remember doing a few. Been on of few smaller ships and got banged up in what looks like decent water conditions. I did a high line from Saratoga to the Albany, exciting was putting it mildly!! almost lost my lunch on that one.

Never actually did it, but I watched it being done from the bridge of two different CVN's.
