Yamaha - Suzuki Starter??

I need a starter for a 2017 F90LB single cam Yamaha. Its a different style than the common Yamaha starter that bolts to the side of the block. This starter bolts to a bracket on the engine through the top of the starter, and there is a bracket on the bottom of the starter. The starter is $800 from Yamaha, and I can't find an aftermarket one, or a used one for less than $500. The starter I need looks exactly like a Suzuki starter for a DF150 - DF250. The Yamaha starter I need is 6FP-81800-00, and the Suzuki starter that looks the same is - 31100-96J02. Will the Suzuki starter work?

I have not a clue as to whether or not a Suzuki starter motor will work on a Yam F90LB. Maybe try and find a dealer that sells both brands and see what they have to say.

Have you considered taking your broken starter motor to an auto electric ship to see if it can be repaired?
