Anyone running a Hydromotive or Bravo?

    I have a 2016 Cougar with a 2019 Merc 250.

My normal prop is a Fury 3 24. My spare prop is a Fury 4 24. I like the way it handles and gets on plane better than the 3 blade, so I've been running it the last few trips. Yesterday it flung an ear. Go figure.

I'm definitely not putting another Fury 4 on the boat.

Is anyone running a Bravo or Hydromotive? Appreciate any feedback.

I've run Bravos on my last 5-6 boats. Hydromotive Quad IV was only 2 miles an hour faster but much more expensive. Hard to beat a Bravo.

Wish that you could run a 28 Hydromotive. I happen to have one. I have run several of both and put them through the paces in the 6400 rpm range. For the money the Bravo is hard to beat but the Hydromotive will not throw a blade and will beat the Bravo in every expectation. More money but a better prop that the owners support. Plus a tad faster. If money is a player get the Bravo otherwise the Hydromotive will not disappoint. Give them a call. They are always willing to talk about your boat and how to make it perform.

I called Hydromotive and talked to Todd this morning. He seemed to ask all the right questions to figure out which prop we should try to get the results I want.

He recommended the Quad IV-X O/T. It should be here in a couple of days. He explained that he'll ship a standard one first. I'll get back to him with numbers/results and then we'll talk whether it needs more cup added, etc.

I don't know what a Bravo costs if you walk in to a local shop and buy one, but the Hydromotive I ordered from Todd this morning was considerably cheaper than the Bravo sells for on BoatPropellerWarehouse.

I ran the same prop on my Sterling, was 2-3 mph faster than a worked 28 Bravo. Man I sure wish I could turn it on my current boat. It's a gem.

I received my prop from Todd today. I took it out this evening, and put it through the paces. I had to play with the jack plate a little, it liked to run a little higher than the fury 4.

I had about half my gear out of the boat, and only a quarter tank of gas. It topped out at 74.5, and 6,050 rpm.

I filled up the live wells and tried that. Top speed was 73, at 5,960 rpm.

Even with the live wells empty, hole shot was sluggish. Similar to my Fury 3.

I will call Todd tomorrow, to see what he thinks.

26 bravo did good on my v8 2021 eyra. Hole shot will not improve much over a 24/3 fury though. The fury 4 is a totally different design and gave a ton of stern lift and hole shot I really loved that prop on my caracal and puma the previous years. Luckily I didn't ever loose an ear on the 4 I owned. .. I will say the bravo is beefy in construction vs a fury/ or fury 4.
