How many use or have tried to use braid or other superlines for crappie? I've always used and had good luck with mono but I'm considering a change.

Not a necessary but it works.
I like 4# mono on ultra lite spinning reels but do not use spider rigs in the small amount of crappie fishing I do. The ultra lite tackle and 1/16th oz. jigs are a lot of fun.
edit: I use Hi Viz yellow to help detect bites on the fall.

I do. 8lb on a spinning reel for fishing minnows on Kentucky or Capps and Coleman rigs.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
nothing else matters.
I use braid on most of my crappie rods.

I switched to Power Pro a couple of years ago and have grown to really like it.
I use only braid for vertical fishing. you can feel brush better and if you hang there is a much better chance of pulling lose instead of breaking off.
10 lb power pro is great for crappie fishing, more sensitive, stronger and you can cast small jigs farther with it.
Thin braid for a main line with a mono leader. Best of both worlds, no line management issues common to spinning reels and leader knots are not an issue with the large spinning rod line guides.
Ranting incoherently
If I am casting I use 10lb braid with 6lb fluro leader. If I am using live scope and long pole I use 20lb braid with 15lb fluro leader.

I use a small diameter braid for casting 1/32 oz jigs with trailer, .10 mm
4 lb suffix nanobraid for my 1/16 oz jigs.
Only use braid for three reel types. Light jigs can be cast to a distance of 40' and strike sensitivity is better than that mono or fluoro IMO.
8# test Kastking braid cheaper and better than Power Pro;
15# test for bass fishing.
For float fishing, I may use a 6# test fluoro leader.
I predominantly cast and I use 6# nano fil with about 10’ 4# flouro leader on all mine, the long leader gets your knot to your reel and cast through your guides better. You don’t need the leader with exception to when you need to break off it will break in the leader. It’s a little aggravating at first but once you get used to it you’ll love the sensitivity and casting distance.
Guess I'll have to try some light braid this year. Love braid for striper fishing.... never even considered it for crappie. Usually fish the smallest mono I can get away with.... 4 or 6 pound at the most.
8# test braid it = to 4# mono in diameter. Kastking and Hercules brand braids are excellent. Allow good light lure action and 40' casts.
I've tried it but I never found one that I could cast as far as 4lb mono. It's fine for vertical fishing though. I love braid for bass fishing but still hanging with mono on the crappie rigs.
I use 6lb yozuri it's awesome
I'm aware of the benefits of braid over mono on a spinning reel, but I prefer mono. From age 6 to about 16 I used 8# XL. Then I switched to 4# XL. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that feels mono gives better distance than braid. I do use both line types on my spinning reels.
