What will the new Minn Kota motor look like?

Since the consensus is Minn Kota is working on a new brushless motor I’m curious if they will take some of our suggestions and complaints to hart and give us something really new

Like eliminated the negative angle on the shaft when deployed

Or a lower profile mount so we can see again

Maybe an adjustable lift assist to offset all the extra stuff/weight we mount to it

Hope you had a great holiday! I hope they don't turn it into a Force or Ghost. The most successful scissors mount around should start with a brushless motor. The rest should be improvements in the mounting mechanism. I must admit I don"t have personal experience, but have been following all the TM posts for a long time. JMO. Bob

hard to jump ship to Power pole , as they don't have a trolling motor, well hypothetically speaking they do...

This thread was started to discuss MINN KOTA and not some should of could of who knows mystical creature

And if scotty is correct that we won’t see anything in 22 I’m just hoping they take the time to consider many of the suggestions that BBC members have made

Minn Kota is not one to make grandiose claims or even hints to what’s to come but you know when they do release a new motor it will make a significant impact on the market

What is the Newton rating or pounds of force with those gas springs? I ask as I am in the middle of adding twin gas springs to my Ultrex.

I’m close to having all the hard stuff done. From what I have learned doing what should have been a couple two hour jobs turning into 2 and half days, you can’t pay me enough to do this again, lol. The learning curve on this project is pretty steep, but if I have to do it again it should only take a few hours.

I have the gas springs on and after a couple more bastard Ultrex mount bolts tightened, hang the Ultrex motor, re-rig all the electronics I’ll be done. IF there is room for my double stacked Humminbirds, I’ll take some pics.

Talked with Minn Kota rep at fishing show & he said no new Ultrex. He said they have a back order list so long they won’t be able to fill it with current motor. He said it’s embarrassing for the company but they can’t get parts. Amazing that all the other manufacturers can get parts but Minn Kota can’t.

i forgot to post this short video here when I was done. I still have to gently push the Ultrex head to latch down the Ultrex most of the time. It only takes a two finger push to get the extra twin 80# gas springs to lock down. I may try twin 60# gas springs and see how big a difference they make. As it is, I am happy due to no more breaking the release cable and busting my butt in the bottom of the boat.
