    S-waver/open water glides

Is a s-waver 168 an ok open water glide or does it just not do the right job?

I don't have tons of money to buy the 80 dollar plus glides I could buy the 55 g-rat etc or the 200 s waver but was curious about the above question?

S-waver is a good choice for getting into the game. Decent cold water choice and the price point is right. You can search recent TacticalBassin vids for others but the S-waver is recommended for this time of year.

I'd also take a look at the Storm Arashi Glide bait. It's a little bigger than the S-Waver 168 and has a wider glide (which is generally what you want with an open water glide bait). Of the two, I like the looks of the Storm Arashi in the water better than the 168, but that's just my opinion.

The 168 does a good job at a little bit of everything and personally I prefer it over the 200 version. The storm arashi glide does the job also like noted. I also like the Molix glide that Carl helped design, I can’t think of the name, but it’s good for the money.
Like noted, Tactical bassin has some incredibly in depth videos on this and they are swim bait nuts… it’s what gave me the confidence to dip my toes in and the fish responded. If I could only get one it’s the 168 when it comes to the glide….strangely that ugly white trout banana looking thing works

168 is a better bait than the 200 size

I need to put in more time with it but I really like the Baitsanity Antidote glide and it's inexpensive for a glide bait.

168 is a good bait. You can file the joints down for a little bigger glide. Heavier hooks will help it stay down a tad deeper too

168 is a great glide! I've used it in open water and around laydowns and has worked great. Def recommend it for the price and action it produces

Did you modify it at all for open water like file the joints?

Some S wavers are good out of the pack and some stick. You have to loosen them up a little.
Great bait that catches big ones.
My biggest on a 168 is an 8.11
