    Coleto Creek Reservoir 12/18

Got out on the lake about 7:00 AM. We were literally the only ones fishing. Water temp right at 73 degrees. Caught a few small ones early in 12-15’ on cranks. Switched over to Texas rigged Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craws (white and watermelon) and that was the ticket. Caught them up shallow, many way up in the grass. Lost a few really good ones up there as well. Highlight of the day was this 4 pound, 4 ounce tilapia my brother caught.

Thought it was a drum when I first saw it, followed by WTH when I netted it. I had no idea they got that big.

Storm rolled through about 1:30 and we packed it up. High winds, heavy rain, and a 20 degree temp drop sucked as we headed back to the ramp.

That used to be a nice little lake. I haven't been there in years though. I've never seen tilapia that big. That is huge!

What is the record for one of those?
I hope you cut its throat and pitched it up on the bank.

The park ranger checked it in as a new water body record. It took a ride home with my brother. It is illegal to turn one loose alive. I did not know that until the ranger told us.

Somewhat. Not to historic levels, but better than the last several years.
