    Re-powering

Before I officially retire I am thinking about repowering my 1997 Stratos 288. Rated for a 175 and has a 175 Envenrude Intruder on it right now. Knock on wood this engine hasn't given me many issues and is still running strong and starts usually on the first or second attempt. We have a few lakes up here that allow only 4 stroke engines that i would like to fish and also I can afford the replacement cost while not on a fixed lower income. What are thoughts and suggestions, pros and cons for models? Thanks for any ones imput!!!

Options are pretty limited. Mercury or Yamaha. I would think availability of both would play in to this as well.

I've fished in several boats with the new 4 stroke mercs. They get great gas mileage & run very smooth. Most may not be hardly as fast as a 2 stroke, but they sure make up for that in my opinion in mileage & smoothness at idle when scanning a lot too. I sure like them.
