    Chev, Ford, Dodge Diesel

I ran the Chev 2500 for years, bought a new 2019 GMC Denali with the 6.2 and it does great pull a boat. I sure do mess the diesel running though and thinking about going back. Never had a Dodge or Ford, what's yawl thoughts on these three now??

Been a mechanic for over 50 years and never was a Ford fan but nowadays if you want a diesel truck Ford is the way to go with the Cummins Dodge being next. GM has too many issues to even consider. My '15 F350 is both strong dependable all the way around.

    Things to consider.
road salt. Ford with aluminum fenders, Ram with steel.
Transmisson longevity. 3/4 ton Ram not great. Ford unknown.

    Cummins is a better engine.

No experience with GM diesels here

I've had Ford diesel 3/4 ton trucks from the late 90's through 2013. Last two of my trucks have been Ram 3500 SRW with Cummins/Aisin. Never had a Duramax, but have ridden in quite a few. Each one I believe are good vehicles. IMO I would choose the make that has best price and closest service support to my home or home base.

Rodney, I love my 19 Ram with the cummins. I've only got around 30,000 miles on it but absolutely no issues yet.

I have a ‘18 Ram 2500 with 60k miles and has been flawless. I did put the “spark plug tune” at 28k miles. Has been excellent.

Ram 1500 Ecodiesel with the air suspension. Almost 30 mpg on the highway without a boat and 15 mpg pulling a boat at 75 mph on the interstate.

Had a Ram Longhorn now have a Ford Lariat. Both gas -sorry.
Ram felt more luxurious on ride. It pulled fine BUT it swayed a bit towing.
Ford 150 has been super towing and suspension feels more rugged.

I have a Chevy 3500 2006. I had head gaskets blow at 298k, redid entire truck. Now have 377k and it looks new runs better than ever and will not consider any other. Had a ford 550 never ever again. Buddy loves ram trucks, he just got a new one, he had a 2006 2500 and it had about 275k on it when parked. Fell apart….

Also have buddies with new gm, haven’t seen issues actually except price of diesel, 2021 getting 23mpg alone and about 14 with a camper

the difference between My last 2 Diesel Fords 2015 and a 2021. Very noticeable increase in power and better fuel economy. Ran oversize tires on both. Been very satisfied with the F250.

I have always been a ford guy. I used to have a f150 and then over the years I switched to a f250 (gas). When it was time to upgrade I test drove a new Ram 2500 and a new f250 both diesels. Overall I ended up going with the Ram. They both had pros and cons in my opinion but the Ram took the win. I’d say the ram had a smoother ride then the ford. I haven’t towed much with the ram yet but i’ve had some weight behind it and it towed fine. Overall I think either ford or ram are good options just depending on your needs, budget and availability with how the vehicle market is lol.
