Is this old temperature sensor?

I am installing a new Carbon 12 inch and in replacement of the transducer I find this old sensor that was attached close to the old transponder.
I have tried to trace the wire up front but I believe that the existing end is caught at the stern where it turns 90~.
Before I cut the wire to remove this I just would like someone to confirm that all this is is an old temperature sensor that was never removed.
I have no other electronics except the original flasher which works so far.
I don’t find the wire under the switch panel and believe all wiring is accounted for up front.
can I cut this wire to remove and be happy?

Not needed, you can get rid of it
