the bad thing is most of the smaller lakes get the crap fished out of them from the bank and a lot of fish go home for dinner... Aka Bixhoma, Taft, Hasket, Claremore etc..

Anyone fish the two lakes near Stillwater, Carl Blackwell and McMurtry?

A friend of mine raves about Langston Lake and Cushing Lake. I’ve never fished either of those.
    Don't worry Ma'am....

I've water skied all over Carl Blackwell and Cushing lake many times in the past but have never fished them. Some friends of mine used to rave on catching plentiful saugeyes in Carl blackwell but never heard much on bass there, other friends have caught some big bass in Cushing lake, but last time I drove by the road off HWY 33 that goes to the boat ramp they had it blocked off with concrete center median blocks so I don't know if the lake is still accessible.

Cushing Lake had a dam failure a couple years ago and I don't know if they ever got it fixed. Think it's close to empty. Carl Blackwell and McMurtry have some decent fish in them. Neither are lakes to catch great numbers out of though.
Smaller lakes can be a lot of fun but can also be severely affected by pressure so I usually don't talk much about them.

I used to hear some big bass stories about Ardmore City Lake. Never fished it, if I drive that far I’m going on to Murray.

its like a crappy bell cow. Bass populations are low, and what fish are there, are fairly decent sized, I chose elsewhere and I love 15 minutes from there

I’ve never had much luck at Bell Cow when the water was cold. Actually, even when it’s warm it’s never been a big numbers lake. Twenty years ago when it was still fairly fresh, nine “keepers” was my best day there. I’m usually happy to pull a couple 3 or 4 pounders out of the water willow or off a tree. It’s easy to get to from Edmond.

What was the water temperature and clarity?

Went to Humphrey's a few times last spring. Nothing large, but still a good fishery. Tried Fuqua once, but the fish I caught were not healthy lookin. Haven't been back. Tried Taylor a few times, good numbers.

haven’t been out there since last spring. Now that they charge an arm and leg for tourneys I doubt I do a lot of fishing there. Sucks. Definitely a favorite lake for me, just don’t do a lot of fun fishing come march.

Went to longmire today. Tough was an understatement. Didn’t know it hand sandbass, but caught a big one. Caught two bass in the 5 hours I was there. Couple decent fish but nothing to write home about. Better luck next time.
