The "Pad" is generally the somewhat flat surface at the rear of the hull on centerline where the water leaves the hull surface and enters the prop .
When the boat gets on plane the "pad" is the only part generally that is touching the water, assuming the boat gets enough lift to keep it up on pad.
The sharp edges of the flat "padded" surface allows the water to leave the boat cleanly at the transom resulting in less drag, higher speed but probably not the better ride in choppy water. The "V" hull will provide more drag and be slower but will have a better ride and control.

The previous AVX 1980/2080 (not sure about 1880) have a flat pad centerline out to the first rake port and stbd at the transom.
The 2022 models now have a "V" that runs centerline from bow to stern. Much better strength and support along the keel.
But the "V" is relatively small and doesn't seem to affect the pad area all that much in performance.
    My 2020 AVX 2080 ran 65 and my 2022 hull AVX 2080 runs 65.

That first picture shows some rough looking welds for a new boat!

Grizzly, now that you have shamed Vexus into the .125 hulls, and when they finally weld to your standard, what is next on your list? You are on the path to make this company the best built aluminum hull ever.

Next on the list would be to make the warranty on the stringers, ribs, bulkheads and transom lifetime to first buyer instead of 5 years.
They might not be listening to you but we gotta hear it........over and over over and over over and over over and over.

Those welds are definately rough. My son is a welder for HCR racing and cringes when he sees the welds on my Vexus.

Isn't that what the keel shield is for?

I have a new 2022 Vexus and the bow eye area looks nothing like the picture. My hull actually flattens towards the bow with the eye welded on a flat surface with professional welds on each side. Must be an AVX181 or 189 hull to be different at bow. Those welds look like repair work to me...

If your hull has the flat "bar" keel that runs the length of the boat, it is the previous design. The new design is the "V" keel like you see in the pictures above. Can't speak on the weld.

Yes, mine is the previous design from 2021 but I guess because of the date of build, is considered a 2022 hull. Makes sense to me now, thanks!

Are you referring to this "V" in my photo, when you're calling it a "V"-hull?

Someone asked about a "Pad" so I was just explaining the difference in how "Pads" are on hulls like a bass hull or deep v type hull.
When I referred to your pic, I did not call it a V-hull. But yes, I was referring to that "V" you point out in your pic. That "V" strip is a new hull design change that runs the keel bow to stern. The previous designs have a flat "bar" strip.
