Difference between the 1222 and the 8612 series?

I currently have a 1222 for live scope only. For those that have used the 8612, is the screen that much different than the 1222. Do you get a better picture on the display?
I am curious if the image will be noticeably sharper.

    Thanks

I went from a 7612 to an 8612. Similar resolution bump to what you are doing. No noticeable difference other than i can see the screen better with sunglasses on.

I’m looking to upgrade also. Not sure about a 1222 but my 126 echo map ultra resolution is 1280/800. The 8600 resolution is 1920/ 1080 with a “no glare screen”

"No glare scree" is a lie. My 8612 is worse than the 1242 I had. It's also worse than the echomap 12" I ran for a couple of weeks.

There is zero difference in the LS image to my eyes between the 1242, Echo 126 and the 8612. The 8612 is "slightly" more focused image because of the screen but I can't see where it shows more detail or fish. Where the 8600 is worth it if you are running the gt56. It's much better than the echomap. It's very close to the HB mega until you go shallow. In that case the 8600 starts to falter and the mega is better. Garmin could do some work on their screens. My Solix is much easier to see in the sun. It seems to go much brighter to my eyes.
