    Question crankbait to rod ?

    how do you all protect your crankbait rod from scratches from treble hooks , do you used the hook keeper on rod or hook your treble hook to front of reel,

    I use the keeper. Rods aren't that bad, but the keeper does rust. I do take baits off after using and let them dry out before putting away.

    I just hook mine to the keeper and live with the scratches.

    I never use the keepers, just hook the rear treble over the reel and wrap the line around the rod a few twist. Hold the crank tight to the reel

    Always use the keeper. I value my reel a little more than the rod especially for a crankbait.

    Cal Coast Fishing Bait Sack if you care about your rod and reel.
    Plus it is easy to work with.

    I add a few layers of black electrical tape on the area where the trebles are hitting...and I cover enough area for the longest lure/treble hook settings I use on that rod.

    I hook on the front of the reel because it keeps the hooks out of the rod sock
